The idea of Sahodaya schools complexes was first mooted by the Education Commission, 1966. It was the National policy on Education, 1966 which reiterated in strong words the need for promoting school complexes for meeting the quality of education. This set the tone for bringing the schools together and networking them for healthy interaction among themselves .The first national conference of Principals of CBSE affiliated schools organized by CBSE in collaboration with APSC Madras in 1985 emphasized collaboration among schools and establishing linkages in academic and other co-curricular and cultural activities.   Sahodaya concept is developed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) New Delhi in 1986, the largest governing body of academics with nearly 16047 schools affiliated to it within the country as well as abroad (250 Schools) functioning under the aegis of Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. It is a unique platform for all CBSE affiliated Schools to share their experience and to work jointly for scholastic as well as co-scholastic excellence. In 1987, CBSE brought out a publication titled, “Freedom to learn and freedom to grow through Sahodaya School Complexes”
